VOLUME BUILD UP LOOKING GOOD
Strawberries
Spain catches up
At long last there is an upsurge in Spanish production with every indication that the poor weather conditions are now just a memory.
The good news is that volumes are building up well in time for Easter, and quality is excellent. The result is that we are anticipating that there will now be unbroken availability stretching forward until May.
In support meanwhile, Morocco will also continue to have a presence until the middle of next month.
There are already the first signs of the English season getting underway with the first Lambada, to be shortly followed by Elsanta. We anticipate a significant build up in mid to late April
Raspberries
Increasing presence
Spain is now able to fulfil its full potential, with the second crop having recovered from frost damage apparent in the Huelva region. Quality is very good and we would expect that good volumes will be coming forward over the next two to four weeks.
 Blackberries
European season ahead
While Mexico continues to dominate programmes with its large sized excellent Tupi which will remain available through until May, there are signs of the first European contenders on the horizon.
We are expecting to see the first of the Spanish crop putting in an appearance within a couple of weeks, while Dutch glasshouse fruit is not far behind.
 Blueberries
US support
Latest reports from our Spanish growers point to the season getting underway by the end of the month, with the potential for a substantial harvest.
Meanwhile good quality Floridian fruit continues to be a significant part of our current programmes while in the future , as the US season moves northwards, we will be able to source from other states to plug any gaps.
 Red Currants
Expert approach
Sufficient Dutch fruit is still available from CA controlled storage to meet specialist requirements in the months ahead, until the fresh crop is picked.
Top quality reflects the expertise that the industry has developed ensuring that programmes are filled twelve months of the year.
 Rhubarb
Promotional boost
The burst of warm spring weather has been particularly beneficial for the English outdoor crop with the result that the season is now in full swing.
This is already leading to some significant promotions during April and May, which will reinforce the resurgence in popularity of this traditional English crop
