Poland shows its colours
Although the French crop has now come to a close there are still remnants available from Germany as production moves east. As a result Poland is now coming into its own and we are seeing a big volume already coming over the horizon with an excellent quality.
Production will continue through into September, again until the first frost, when continuity will be unbroken with the arrival of the Argentinean season. Latest reports indicate that some earlier varieties may have been hit by the weather, but there are already signs that there will be plenty of fruit arriving in October.
 Red Currants
Dutch dominance
Sourcing is now passing back into the hands of Dutch growers for another year, as fresh picked supplies come to a close. With the crop safely harvested and now in CA store our specialist customers can be assured of availability to meet programmes through until next summer. We will also be able to handle any surges in demand with near perfect arrivals.
 Rhubarb
Culinary delight
UK Rhubarb is available giving an excellent opportunity for budding cooks to create a culinary masterpiece of their own by combining with any of the great tasting berries that are available.
Plums & Cherries
Victoria bonanza
Picking of early varieties such as Opals, Reeves and Jubilium is already underway, although volumes are still somewhat erratic making it difficult to forecast volumes other than on a weekly basis.
Latest reports from our growers however indicate that there is an improvement on the way shortly. Victorias, the UK's best known and most popular variety are on course for one of the best seasons seen for many years. |
