Smooth Transition Ahead

Autumn is full of promise

There is still plentiful availability of English fruit represented by a combination of the late flushes from Everbeares, supplemented by the first arrivals of the glasshouse crop which will continue to build. Quality is excellent and programmes are sufficient to meet the steady demand from the pubic as the Indian summer continues.

In support there is Dutch glasshouse fruit, as required.

End in sight

Sourcing of English raspberries is now tightening with the end of the season in sight. Continuity will be maintained with the arrivals of the first Spanish crop from the Huelva region next week. This will shortly be followed by the first pickings from Morocco.

Mix and match

The English outdoor crop is still being harvested albeit in reduced quantities. There are small volumes of Dutch glasshouse fruit available and we would expect to see arrivals from both Guatemala and Mexico as October gets underway.

Australia fills the bill

Cold weather in Argentina has meant that there is a gap in supplies, although any shortening up will only be temporary with more fruit expected in mid October. In the meantime some excellent Australian arrivals are plugging the gap.

Place your orders

Dutch stored fruit now represents the main source of our programmes and comes from controlled atmosphere storage so that arrivals are assured over the coming winter months. The high level of technology which supports the industry is reflected in the excellent quality available throughout this period.

Dutch crop welcome

Lack of rain has had some effect on our outdoor crop, just before the Dutch forced crop is about to make its seasonal entry onto the UK market. At present there is still sufficient from our specialist growers to meet demand.

Still going strong

Victorias, after a vintage season, have now made way for Marjorie Seedling which will remain available for around another week. Fruit quality remains excellent even at this late stage.
