Seasonal Changeover Coming Closer
Strawberries
UK still going strong
Despite the sunshine now slipping away there are still good volumes of late tunnel production coming forward from our English growers. Quality remains excellent and availability will continue if we are fortunate enough to experience an Indian summer.
Hopefully there will be continuity through until the first pickings of the English glasshouse crop expected around the first week of October, which if demand maintains its present levels can be supported by Dutch fruit.
Raspberries
Weather or not?
Autumn varieties are still ticking on, and again UK availability will depend on future weather conditions. The first Continental fruit from Northern Spain is on course to be harvested in about a fortnight.
 Blackberries
Solid support
The steady demand for English fruit remains unabated even at a time when volumes are beginning to decrease. Mexico comes back into the frame in late October so we will be able to maintain substantial programmes through the winter, while there will also be glasshouse fruit from Holland .

Blueberries
Southern Hemisphere take over ahead
Good quality late season Polish fruit is still able to meet all our requirements and as this begins to fade continuity will be maintained with the arrival of new crop from Australia and Argentina arriving at the end of this month.
 Red Currants
Safe and sound
The Dutch crop is now safely in store and will be able to provide an unbroken supply to our patisserie customers over the next eight months.
 Rhubarb
All change
The end of the English outdoor season is now in sight although we are still able to source sufficient volumes from our specialist growers mainly based in Holland who will be switching to the first of the forced crop in mid October.
Plums & Cherries
Plenty for everyone
The heavy Victoria crop has allowed programmes to continue with some excellent quality fruit which has been well received by our retail customers and public alike.
With the crop now under storage availability is expected to last until the end of the month, while volumes are supported by Marjorie Seedling where harvesting is still continuing.
